Hello to all my dear ISES friends! Well, once again, words fail me. Last night was a true highpoint in my 15 years of fundraising experience. I can not even begin to express the gratitude I have for each and every one of you for the tremendous spirit that you have brought to the doors of the Resource Center . I feel like we have won the lottery! I continue to be blown away with the extreme generosity that you are lavishing upon us. An e-mail seems so lame, when all I really want to do is personally bow down at your collective feet! From beginning to end, last night was a complete success and I have no one else to thank except each of you. What historically has been a nice reception and get-together of TOAST and Resource Center supporters transformed last night into a full blown PARTY that will have our guests talking for weeks to come. We simply could not have asked for a better kick-off to the next 8 weeks leading up to the big event on March 1. I just hope that you can all begin to feel the impact you are making not only on the lives of the clients we serve, but also in the way the Resource Center is positioned in the mind’s eye of the community, as a whole. What you are bringing to the table is totally raising the ante for RCD events and fundraising possibilities for years to come. So on behalf of the entire Resource Center staff, Board of Directors, and most importantly the hundreds of clients that walk through our doors each day, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Utmost regards, Raymond Raymond T. Shelton Special Events Coordinator Resource Center of Dallas

ISES DALLAS MASTER SERIES
With the Super Bowl coming to our area in 2011, ISES Dallas members are getting a jump on the competition by learning just how we can all benefit from the landslide of business that will be generated from, not only the Super Bowl itself, but the hundreds of other events that will take place!
First of a two-part Master Series entitled “Scoring Big Business from the Super Bowl – Learn from the Pros” was held October 9th at Eddie Deen’s Ranch. Even though this is one of our industry’s busiest times of the year, close to 30 people showed up at 8:00 a.m. for a wonderful hot breakfast – compliments of Eddie Deen’s Ranch - and to hear two of the area’s most respected and knowledgeable women speak to us about Super Bowl and just what it will mean for the event industry in North Texas.
With Sparky Sparks acting as narrator, he introduced our first speaker, Tara Green, VP of Sports Marketing for the Dallas CVB, who was instrumental in putting together the North Texas Super Bowl bid. After viewing a DVD from the city of Houston which covered all the events, moneys raised for charity, etc… from the year they hosted the Super Bowl, Tara spoke to us about the actual bid process and why/how North Texas was awarded the event and just what it will mean to the entire north Texas area.
Kaye Burkhardt with Dallas Fan Fares, Inc. was our next speaker. With 20 years experience conducting corporate programs, meetings and incentives for Super Bowl events, and working directly with the NFL, Kaye was a wealth of knowledge! She highlighted all the many, many opportunities ISES member will have for business and strongly encouraged everyone to “work together” and to extend our Texas hospitality to make this the most successful and memorable Super Bowl ever. She said ISES is on the right track in by beginning the education process as to what this event will mean to our business and our area.
The _ day seminar concluded with a “meet and greet” with the speakers and, with all excitement that was generated, many members stayed around to talk with Kaye and Tara.
AV equipment and music was provided by Richard McClure of AVSD.
Branding Your Events Outline What is a brand? - A brand includes a name, logo, slogan, and/or design scheme associated with an event. Brand recognition and other reactions are created by the use of the event elements. A brand is a symbolic embodiment of all the information connected to the event to create associations and expectations around it. A brand often includes a logo, fonts, color schemes, symbols, and sound, which may be developed to represent implicit values, ideas, and even personality. What does this mean? - Your event speaks to your audience in multiple ways and these should all be thought thru when branding an event. Areas to improve your brand - This is an important aspect of your brand for your event. Different fonts portray different images. You can visit this link to read more about font differences. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typeface. By choosing a distinct color to brand your event, you can promote an emotional reaction as well as increase recognition from piece to piece. More about basic color psychology here http://www.infoplease.com/spot/colors1.html. By choosing similar elements for your event you can set a theme. Examples would be the use of black and white photography, pictures and illustrations of one element like a plane, luggage, etc. When thinking about branding your event do some planning before you start. Decide on the elements that you will use throughout the elements in your events. Choose the theme, elements, fonts, colors and overall look and feel, then create or have the elements created. Everything speaks to your audience and helps establish your brand. Hello to all of our ISES friends & heroes!! Pardon the lateness of this e-mail, but I have been digging out from under the auction aftermath! But that in no way means that I have forgotten how beautifully each and every one of you brought your time, talent and energy over the last few months to insure that this year’s TOAST TO LIFE was the most successful event to date. All week we have been receiving calls, e-mails and people just stopping by to say that this year’s TOAST was the best yet! And we have ISES to thank for that! I want each of you to know who much we appreciate EVERYTHING each of you have contributed to the success of Saturday night’s event. I have been continually overwhelmed by your tireless efforts, boundless energy, enthusiasm and good humor throughout the months of preparation that it has taken to get us up to and through TOAST TO LIFE this year. At every turn, you were there to manage and overcome any obstacle that arose. What a team of ROCK STARS you assembled for our event! Saturday afternoon I stopped and looked around and I saw each of you tending to the tasks at hand, and I knew we were in the best hands possible. This whole process has been exactly like that because of your unmatched professionalism, care and attention to every detail. I can not thank you enough for making us look so good! And so, on behalf of the entire RCD staff, the Board of Directors and most importantly all of the people – some you will never see or know – that can breathe a little easier because of how hard you have worked on their behalf. For them – the thousands of men, women and children that rely on the Resource Center for assistance – I thank you for your time, your talent, your determination and your generous spirit. To you, my friends, I raise my glass in a Toast to YOU! With great appreciation and affection, Raymond
